PRR Passenger Station, 1965
Description:
WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona during August of 1965. Shown here is the North Philadelphia Passenger Station in the foreground. The PRR's control tower at this location is just beyond the Station. Once upon a time, long ago and far away, this was both a busy and important Station; this is where passengers would transfer from north- and southbound trains to trains from or to westbound destinations ~ 24/7/365. Sometimes there was enough time between trains to catch a good meal at the resturant located on the Station's second floor.
