Viewing Album: USA: Morgan ~> "Indian Summer" ~ Part 4
By:
Thomas C. Ayers
Dates:
9/1/1956 - 9/1/1956
Album Info:
Here are the front cover and a five-page article by Mr. David P. Morgan entitled "The Mohawk That Refused To Abdicate, And Other Tales." They were published originally in the September 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 24-28. Photos by Dr. Philip R. Hastings taken during September of 1955. "Phil Hastings and I . . . camped a while at the west end of [the Pennsylvania Railroad's] Grogan Yard, Columbus ~ there to watch the railroad's biggest get a grip on coal bound for 'the dock.' Now, 'biggest' on Pennsy's roster of steam power means the J-1, a 2-10-4 of more than ordinary reputation and performance." (Page 24)
