Lowell Junction  Contributor's Pick!
Lowell Junction is located south of Everett, WA. At one time the GN, NP and Milwaukee Road all met here as they approached the city from the south. Here train no. 600, the daily Seattle to Spokane freight, has left its train on the siding next to the former GN main at Lowell while it ran down the old NP line to the right to grab a cut of cars from the former GN Delta Yard. After joining the train and testing the air, they will head out of town and up the hill for Cascade Tunnel, which is about 64 rail miles ahead.
