| Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1966. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8663, an AS-18AM built by the American Locomotive Company in January of 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. Along with two more units of the same class, it's just finished a helper/pusher run up to Gallitzin and is now returning to East Altoona for further assignment. (#8 of 39) |
