To kick off the festivities celebrating Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminals 50th Anniversary, two big Northerns (Southern Pacific 4449 and Union Pacific 8444) rounded the curve by Terminal Tower to arrive at the station. The two 4-8-4s would remain on display throughout the weekend, as would cab unit diesels from the three railroads (Santa Fe, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific) that called on LAUPT prior to the formation of Amtrak. Photographed on Cinco de Mayo 1989. |
