One of the more obscure operations on the Conrail system was SELI/LISE, which also ran under several other symbols over the years. It connected Conrail with the Bronx and the Long Island RR, which had a minimal freight operation compared to its commuter trains. Catching it was not difficult if you knew when the trains ran, though my issue was usually more a case of having the free time to do it. I got lucky one day in November 1983, catching it as it was going over the Hell Gate bridge. |
