This was the Illinois Central Gulf bridge over the Red River between Shreveport (on the right) and Bossier City. The first bridge at this location was built for the Vicksburg Shreveport & Pacific in 1884, and it was replaced by this structure in 1916. Because the river has moved east, the swing span is no longer in the center of the channel. Subsequent owners had be MidSouth Rail and the Kansas City Southern. |
