Sweetland. Here is the second of two successive 35mm color slides of photos by David R. Sweetland that were taken at the Freight Station in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, in March of 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9466, an unidentified B-unit, and #9475. All were built by Fairbanks-Morse and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #9466 is an FF-20 constructed in February of 1948 and retired in March of 1963. #9475 was built as an FP-20A in June of 1948, regeared and reclassified as an FF-20, and retired in September of 1962. In this context, this A-B-A set has just passed through the Allegheny Tunnel with a mixed-cargo freight on its way to Conway. (Gift from Brad Mann.) |
