Built by Fairbanks Morse originally for the Minnesota Western as their #51, After a reorganization, MW became Minneapolis, Northfield & Southern with the loco being renumbered #11. In 1976, it was sold the Hallett Dock company for use switching cars at the west Duluth docks. The Hallett company finally donated it to the Lake Superior RR Museum on February 19, 2005 where it resides in the passenger platform area. Still operational, it is one of just a few surviving Fairbanks Morse locos preserved in the US. |
