Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in October of 1955. Shown here at the East Altoona Roundhouse is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6734, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A during June of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in August of 1948, and retired in September of 1959 after 29 years of faithful service. Partially visible in the background is Juniata's 17th Street Bridge. Gary Mittner Collection. |
