SP 2524 |
Description: |
Delivered to Southern Pacific as SW1500 2524 in July 1969, this switcher wore SP paint until retirement. Instead of meeting the scrapper's torch this switcher was picked up by Railserve first becoming RSSX 2524 then 5524 and getting a bright yellow dip job in the process. In this photo, 2524 is busy kicking cars in Miller Yard a little over two years before the end of Espee. |

Local with an SW 1500 |
Description: |
I was making a delivery in Houston when this local rolled past. Some days you get lucky. SP still had a number of end cab switchers in service, a declining breed on Class 1's by this time. |
