Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, in November of 1960. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9542, #9550-B, and #9654. All are EF-15A's built by GM-EMD as EH-15's for helper service, rated at 1,500 horsepower each, but later regeared and reclassified as EF-15A's. #9542 was built in October of 1948 and retired in September of 1965. #9550-B was built in December of 1948 and retired in September of 1965. #9654 was built in February of 1950. They're parked (with engines off) at the locomotive servicing facility located on the wye connecting the east- and westbound legs of the mainline in Gallitzin. |

Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Detroit, Michigan, in July of 1961. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9654 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9841 is an EF-15A constructed as an EH-15 in February of 1950, regeared and reclassified as an EF-15A, and retired in November of 1966. WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania Railroad qassenger train from Harrisburg to Altoona on 03 July 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7081 and #9654. Both were built by EMD. #7081 is an EFS-17M built in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsgpower. #9654 is an EH-15 built in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are parked on a passing track near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, waiting for clearance to proceed. (My train is moving from beft to right.) |
