PRR 4340, EFP-15, 1967 |
Description: |
Mann. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Martin Zak that was taken near Morrisville, Pennsylvania, on 14 May 1967. Prominent here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4340 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. #4340 is an EFP-15 built by GM-EMD as number "9840" in May of 1952, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and renumbered "4340" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. Note the "ribbon rail" that will soon replace the 39-foot sections of "stick rail." (Gift from Brad Mann.) |
